Local attraction
The 7th century Ruthenian settlement was captured by king Casimir the Great in mid-14th century and became known by its present name. The city's highlights include an early Baroque Bernardine Monastery, with the beautifully furnished church and mausoleum of the Ligeza family. Another architectural gem is the Lubomirski Palace and adjacent 17th century castle. Also worth seeing is the Market Square, recently restored, with picturesque tenement houses.
